District Elder
James H. Simmons III, District Elder of Central Pennsylvania, is currently
Pastor of Faith Refuge Assembly-Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and co-founder of Antioch
Apostolic Church-Lancaster, Pennsylvania Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ of the
Apostolic Faith, Inc.
District Elder James H. Simmons, III was rescued from a college campus in
Harrisburg by Elder Dorsey Meredith and on a cold February 1976 afternoon in the
basement of the New Day Way of the Cross Church he was baptized in the Name of
Jesus Christ. God filled him with the Holy Ghost by the evidence of speaking in
tongues upon coming up from the waters of baptism. As he continued to study
under Pastor Meredith's teaching, Brother Simmons was ordained a Deacon and
later appointed a Minister.
In 1984, Minister Simmons came to Faith Refuge Assembly of our Lord Jesus
Christ, being a minister and immediately became an active Sunday School Teacher,
brotherhood President, Prison Minister and worked closely with many other
auxiliaries.
Minister Simmons was united in Holy Matrimony to Sister Chyrel D. Norwood on
April 27, 1985. He that findeth a wife findeth a good thing. Ten years later on
February 3, 1995 the Lord blessed this union with a son named Jonathan-Michael
James Simmons.
While faithfully serving under the Late Elder Herman Middleton in the year
1987, he was appointed Junior Pastor of the outreach church in York, PA. (which
is still in existence today). Minister Simmons was ordained an Elder at the 1991
International Convocation in South Carolina. In 1992, he was installed as Pastor
of Faith Refuge Assembly of Our Lord Jesus Christ, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Since becoming a Pastor, Elder Simmons co-started an outreach ministry in
Lancaster, PA. As a result of combined efforts, Antioch Apostolic Assembly of Our
Lord Jesus Christ was born in 1996. In 1997, Elder Simmons was appointed
District Elder by Bishop Alexander Stokes and was encouraged to "Live clean, Pay
your tithes and preach the Gospel, son!"
